MCE at the FARMER'S DAY CELEBRATION AT NUMESUA

Municipal Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano North, celebrates the 41st National Farmers' Day on December on the theme "Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Future Ghana" underscores the critical role of farmers in ensuring food security and national development.

The speech highlights agriculture's significance to Ghana's economy, contributing 22.2% to GDP and employing 38.3% of the workforce. It acknowledges challenges like climate change and crop pests such as the Fall Army Worm.

Key government initiatives are outlined, including the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda and the Feed Ghana Programme (FGP). Specific local interventions under the FGP include the "Nkoko Nketenkete" household poultry project to support women, youth, and vulnerable groups.

The address details substantial municipal support for farmers: distribution of 5,000 bags of NPK and 1,000 bags of urea fertilizer to 3,500 farmers, and provision of agrochemicals to over 1,200 maize farmers affected by pests.

Collaboration with development partners is emphasized. UNIDO has provided modern rice milling equipment and training, while CABI/Plantwise has trained 1,220 individuals—including farmers and officers—on sustainable pest management.

The municipality has registered 220 Farmer Based Organizations, comprising over 4,200 stakeholders. BUSINESS ADVISORY CENTER IN COLLABORATION WITH MASTERCLASS FOUNDATION HOLDS BUSINESS-IN-A-BOX WORKSHOP FOR YOUTH IN THE MUNICIPALITY.

As part of efforts to promote youth empowerment and entrepreneurship, the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) of the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Masterclass Foundation, has organized a Business-in-a-Box Project Workshop for young people within the municipality.

The training aimed to equip participants with practical business skills, startup support, and resources to enable them to establish and sustain their own enterprises. The workshop featured hands-on sessions on business management, financial literacy, customer service, and innovation.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Kwasi Adusei, graced the occasion and presented startup kits and business items to beneficiaries. In his remarks, the MCE commended the BAC and the Masterclass Foundation for their commitment to youth development and encouraged participants to make good use of the opportunity to build sustainable livelihoods.

Also present was the Head of the Business Advisory Centre, Mr. Gabriel Adu-Gyamfi, who expressed appreciation to the Masterclass Foundation for their continued partnership. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship programs that promote economic growth and job creation within the municipality.

The event concluded with a presentation of items to selected participants under the Business- in-a-Box initiative, marking another step toward empowering the youth and reducing unemployment in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality.

MCE HONORS NURSES' VITAL ROLE.

The Municipal Chief Executive at the 2025 Nurses and Midwives Week celebration in Ahafo Ano North, honours the indispensable role of nurses and midwives. The address praises the profession's compassion and frontline dedication, thanking them for their service. It highlights the timely theme, "Our Nurses, Our Future – The Economic Power of Care," linking a healthy population to national economic strength.

A key focus is the launch of a Staff Housing Project, praised as a crucial initiative for worker motivation and retention, especially in rural areas. The speech outlines government efforts to address challenges, including completing stalled health projects, recruiting more staff, investing in training, and implementing digital health systems. At the municipal level, specific projects are cited, such as expanding the Manfo Health Centre and completing the Keniago CHPS compound, to improve local infrastructure and access to care.

AHAFO ANO NORTH ASSEMBLY EMBRACES DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION WITH SMART WORKPLACE TRAINING

As part of efforts to enhance efficiency and promote a paperless working environment, the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly organized a Smart Workplace Workshop on the 2nd of October at the Conference Hall.

The workshop was aimed at introducing staff to the Smart Workplace Platform, a government initiative designed to improve communication, collaboration, and workflow among public service institutions. Facilitators from the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation took all staff through the various modules of the platform, demonstrating how to effectively use its features for official correspondence, document management, virtual meetings, and information sharing.

Participants were also guided on how to navigate the system, send and receive memos, manage tasks, and store important files digitally. The interactive session provided an opportunity for staff to ask questions and gain hands-on experience with the platform.

In his closing remarks, the Municipal Coordinating Director commended the facilitators for the insightful training and encouraged staff to adopt the Smart Workplace system in their daily administrative duties to ensure efficiency and accountability in service delivery.

SECOND SESSION OF THE NINTH ASSEMBLY.

Hon. Kwasi Adusei expressed gratitude for his confirmation and outlined key achievements and priorities across multiple sectors. On security, he reported a calm environment due to effective policing and community engagement. In health, significant strides were made through mass drug administration for river blindness and a high-coverage HPV vaccination campaign for adolescent girls.

Agriculture initiatives included registering over 4,500 farmers and enhancing rice processing capacity.

Environmental sanitation improved through National Sanitation Day participation and planned waste evacuation in several communities. Under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme, market redevelopment in Tepa is 45% complete.

The Ghana Productive Safety Net Programme is building climate-resilient assets and rehabilitating feeder roads. The school Feeding Programme currently serves over 12,400 pupils.

In education, efforts continue to improve attendance and training, though teacher shortages persist. Social interventions like the LEAP programme saw increased cash payments to vulnerable households, and support for Persons with Disabilities was bolstered through updated data. Financially, internally Generated Funds collection was at 53.8% of target, while District Assemblies Common Fund allocations were received and are being deployed per guidelines for development projects.

The MCE concluded by thanking members for their support and urging collaborative efforts to sustain the municipality’s development.

MCE,HON. KWASI ADUSEI EMBARK ON COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TOURS ACROSS AHAFO ANO NORTH MUNICIPALITY.

As part of efforts by the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly to strengthen communication between the Assembly and the citizenry, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Kwasi Adusei, has embarked on an official community engagement tour to various towns and villages within the Municipality.

The tour, which took place from Tuesday, 9th September to Friday, 12th September 2025, formed part of the Assembly’s initiative to disseminate government policies and programmes at the grassroots level while fostering active community participation in local governance and development planning.

During the engagement, Hon. Adusei, accompanied by Heads of Departments and Assembly officials, interacted directly with community members to discuss ongoing and upcoming government projects, listen to their concerns, and share development priorities for the Municipality. The tour also aimed to strengthen collaboration between local authorities and residents to ensure inclusive and sustainable development.

The communities visited included Danyame, Benumso, Nyameadom, Asenkyem, Abonsuaso, Tabrikrom, Betiako, Addaikrom, Gyamenakrom, Katapei, Kwakuduakrom, Supopnso, Jachienkwanta, Aboagya, Onyinase, Fawobotoso, Numesua, Nfanti, Subriso, Odumasi, Sunuroso, and Keniago.

Residents warmly welcomed the MCE and his entourage, expressing appreciation for the Assembly’s efforts to bring governance closer to the people. They also took the opportunity to present developmental needs in areas such as education, health, sanitation, roads, and agriculture.

In his remarks, Hon. Kwasi Adusei reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving living standards through equitable distribution of resources and community-driven development. He encouraged residents to maintain unity, participate in communal activities, and support the Assembly’s initiatives aimed at accelerating local development.

REGIONAL MINISTER VISITS TEPA.

Hon. Kwasi Adusei, Municipal Chief Executive, welcomes the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, to the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly in Tepa. The speech begins by extending a heartfelt welcome on behalf of the local community. It provides a brief history of the Municipality, noting its establishment as a district in 1988 and elevation to municipal status in 2018. Key geographical and demographic details are shared: a 576 sq km area bordering five districts, with a population of 92,742.

The address highlights Tepa's role as a commercial and administrative hub, with a vibrant market attracting regional trade. It outlines the Assembly's composition of 58 members and a workforce of 116 staff, noting a male-dominated structure and a commitment to increasing women's participation.

MCE HIGHLIGHTS MUSLIM COMMUNITY SUPPORT.

He extends Eid Mubarak wishes from himself and President John Dramani Mahama to Ghana's Muslim community, honoring the festival's themes of faith, sacrifice, and obedience as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. The address highlights specific government interventions supporting Ghana's Muslim community:

1.Hajj Support: The government reduced the Hajj pilgrimage fare from GHC 75,000 to GHC 62,000 and promises further reductions. Construction of a modern Hajj Village at Kotoka International Airport is also underway to improve pilgrim facilities.

2.Religious Inclusivity: The Eid-ul-Fitr public holiday has been extended from one to two days.

3.Community Development: The government is investing in infrastructure—schools, boreholes, drainage, community centers—in Zongo and Muslim-dominated areas.

4.Education & Empowerment: Scholarship schemes via the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat support brilliant but needy Muslim students. Skills training and entrepreneurship programs are also provided for youth.

GHANA IMMIGRATION SERVICE GRADUATES CELEBRATED BY THE MCE.

Hon. Kwasi Adusei, delivered a speech at the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) Training School passing-out ceremony in Tepa, celebrates the graduation of Recruit Intake 30 and underscores the critical national role of immigration officers.

The address begins by acknowledging the significance of the event for the new graduates, who have completed rigorous training to serve under the GIS motto, “Friendship with Vigilance.” Hon. Adusei highlights the GIS as a fundamental pillar of national development, responsible for safeguarding Ghana’s borders, maintaining sovereignty, and contributing to economic security by regulating the movement of people and facilitating legitimate trade and investment.

He emphasizes the heightened security challenges facing the country, particularly threats of terrorism from neighbouring regions, and stresses that border integrity is the frontline of national defence. The GIS is commended for its vital role in intelligence gathering, surveillance, and inter-agency collaboration to prevent infiltration, illegal arms flows, and destabilizing activities.

A NEWLY COMFIRMED MCE,HON KWASI ADUSEI OUTLINE MUNICIPAL DEVELOPMENT PLANS AT HIS INAUGURATION.

Hon. Kwasi Adusei, the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive, delivered his inaugural address to the Assembly. He expressed gratitude for his appointment and outlined his vision for inclusive development, building on the foundation laid by his predecessor.

The address highlighted key focus areas and ongoing initiatives:

1.Environmental Sanitation: A new decentralized policy will empower the Assembly to manage waste, with 10% of the Common Fund allocated for this purpose.

2.Road Infrastructure: Targeting to improve 70% of municipal roads by January 2026, utilizing funds from the Ghana Road Fund and the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP).

3.Major Projects: The Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme is funding an ultra-modern market in Tepa and extending electricity. Other projects include the Ghana School Feeding Programme, the Productive Safety Net Project (climate change mitigation), and apprenticeship schemes through the National Youth Authority.

4.Social Interventions:Programmes like LEAP (cash transfers), support for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and Productive Inclusion aim to reduce poverty and empower vulnerable groups.

5.Revenue Mobilization: Efforts are underway to improve Internally Generated Funds (IGF) collection, including updating the database of rateable properties.

6.Cross-Sectoral Issues: Challenges in physical planning (unauthorized development), education (teacher shortages, infrastructure), and health (human resource and infrastructural deficits) were acknowledged, with commitments to address them.

Security: The situation is generally calm, with efforts focused on combating illegal mining in the Mfante Electoral Area.

STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT ON INTEGRATED SOCIAL SERVICES DELIVERY SYSTEMS.

The Municipal Coordinating director and again a facilitator of the ISSD Mr. Abdul Hussein in his welcome address said that, all the stakeholder should coordinate in the successful implementation of the ISSD. Among the stakeholders’ present were the DOVVSU, CHRAJ, GHS, NHIS, PLANNING, GES BIRTH AND DEATH, SOCIAL WELFARE, GIS and many more.

The stakeholders discussed in the need for working together for a successful implementation of the ISSD and they all came to the agreement that; they should all assist themselves with needed information and again with DATA when requested for by a stakeholder to assist such department in the preparation of its reports.

The acting director of SWCD, Mr. Frimpong Isaac briefed the stakeholders on SWIMS and how it is important for the stakeholders to assist the Social welfare Department with the needed information when requested for, so that the social welfare Department can successfully prepare the SWIMS forms and forward it to Accra.

They again discussed issues on referring of cases and concluded that, the social welfare department should make copies of the referral forms to be given to the stakeholders to assist on the referral of cases.

A lot of suggestions from the various stakeholders were raised and among some of them was

1, the birth and death officer suggested on collaboration with DSWCD in the free birth and registration in some of the villages in the municipality.

2. the immigration officer suggested that, with the child labour, the communities should be educated on it before any other action is been taking on the defaulters.

3 the NHIS suggested on the intensity of the leap beneficiaries’ cases by the DSWCD to the NHIS .

Mr. Abdul Hussein the Municipal Coordinating Director, in his closing remarks commended the department of Social Welfare and Community Development for organizing the program and urged the stakeholders to be united and committed to the course of using multi-dimensional approaches in making services accessible and responsive at the local level and closer to the people to ensure effective coordination of the child and family welfare system at all levels.

AHAFO ANO NORTH MUNICIPAL CELEBRATE 68th INDEPENDENCE DAY AT TEPA SHS.

On behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive by the coordinating director of the municipality for Ghana's 68th Independence Anniversary, reflects on the nation's journey and future path.

The address begins by honoring Ghana's founding fathers and the sacrifices made for independence, which served as a beacon of hope for Africa. It acknowledges the contributions of various sectors to national development.

The speaker emphasizes this year's theme, **"Reflect, Review, and Reset."** This involves remembering the values of unity and hard work, honestly assessing national achievements and persistent challenges like unemployment and corruption, and committing to bold action for sustainable development.

A significant portion focuses on education as the cornerstone of the nation's future. The speech highlights government initiatives to strengthen the education system, including: * Improving the Free Senior High School policy to eliminate the double-track system. * Reintroducing Parent-Teacher Associations for better school management. * Empowering school heads to manage procurement for reliable student meals. * Increasing basic school grants and waiving fees for needy first-year university students.

The youth are urged to seize these educational opportunities. The address concludes by thanking traditional rulers, the planning committee, teachers, security services, and all contributors to the anniversary celebration, ending with a blessing for the municipality and Ghana.

HEAVY STORM RAZE HAVOC AT ABONSUASO; SCHOOL PROPERTIES AFFECTED

A heavy rainstorm last Thursday has raze havoc on some properties in the Ahafo Ano North Municipal, Abonsuaso in Tepa of Ashanti Region.

Among properties destroyed were some school buildings. Schools affected were the Abonsuaso M/A Basic School. The school suffered complete roof damages. The school had two of its classroom blocks pull down by this storm that lasted for two hours.

Again, some billboards and signboards were not left out of this act of nature.

According to the Municipal NADMO office, no human casualty and injuries have been recorded, except damaged properties running into thousands of Ghana Cedis. Residence here have described the storm as very horrifying and have called on authorities to help restore the damaged properties of the affected schools.

COMMUNITY FOCAL PERSONS ENGAGEMENT ON LEAP ASSESMENT

This report provides an overview of the community focal persons engagement session held on January 15th 2025 focus on the upcoming reassessment of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program. The session brought together various stakeholders to discuss strategies for effectively evaluating and enhancing the program’s impact in the municipality.

The meeting was attended by community LEAP focal persons, Municipal Assembly officials and the meeting began with a comprehensive overview of the LEAP program, emphasizing its role in uplifting communities and alleviating poverty. And the engagement also aimed to assess the status and effectiveness of the LEAP program in the community, the focus was on identifying challenges, sharing success stories and discussing strategies to further improvement. After the sensitization session by Mr. Frimpong Isaac, the Municipal Social Welfare and Community Development Director, the focal persons were given opportunity to err their views on the LEAP program where they reported on the current status of the LEAP initiatives, highlighting both achievements and areas needing attention,

The meeting was concluded with a strong commitment from all stakeholders to work collaboratively to maximize the impact of the LEAP program in the communities.
