The Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly observed the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service at Tepa, bringing together religious leaders, traditional authorities, government officials, and residents to call for unity, integrity, accountability, and patriotism to drive national development. The event, held at the forecourt of the Municipal Assembly, was themed: "Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want." It featured Christian, Muslim, and Traditional Religious leaders who offered prayers for the nation, the three arms of government, security services, corporate institutions, and peace in Ghana.

Delivering a sermon, the Chairman of the Tepa Local Council of Churches, Rev. Alfred Boadi Jr., urged Ghanaians to cultivate a strong sense of patriotism and collective responsibility towards national development. He stressed that meaningful progress could only be achieved when citizens placed national interest above partisan politics, ethnic divisions, and religious differences. He also commended the country's religious tolerance, describing it as a priceless national asset that must be protected to sustain peace and social cohesion.

Addressing the gathering, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano North, Hon. Kwasi Adusei, emphasized that Ghana's development depends not only on infrastructure and economic growth but also on the moral character, discipline, and ethical conduct of its citizens. He expressed concern over corruption, indiscipline, disrespect for authority, and environmental degradation, describing them as major challenges undermining national cohesion and development.

Hon. Kwasi Adusei called for a national reset of values, attitudes, and mindsets, noting that Ghana's cherished cultural values, which have long promoted unity and national identity, must be consciously restored. He urged citizens to uphold honesty, accountability, respect for the rule of law, and responsible leadership as essential pillars for building a prosperous and united nation.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kwasi Adusei, has officially cut the sod for the construction of a modern 24-hour economy market at Tepa in the Ashanti Region.

Addressing traditional leaders, government officials, traders, and residents at the ceremony, Hon. Kwasi Adusei stated that the project forms part of President John Dramani Mahama's vision to promote continuous economic activities and improve the livelihoods of Ghanaians through increased commercial opportunities. He explained that the market would provide a modern and secure environment for traders and businesses to operate around the clock, thereby expanding economic activities and creating sustainable employment opportunities.

The MCE noted that the project demonstrates the government's commitment to strengthening local economies through strategic infrastructure development. He highlighted that successive National Democratic Congress (NDC) governments have consistently invested in markets and other public infrastructure to enhance economic growth and ensure equitable development across the country. Hon. Kwasi Adusei further appealed to the contractor to prioritize the employment of skilled local youth during the construction phase to promote entrepreneurship, build local capacity, and reduce unemployment within the municipality.

The consultant, Eco Planners and Engineering Consult, disclosed that the modern market complex would include a police post, fire service post, daycare centre, pharmacy, clinic, Women's Development Bank, warehouse, meat shop, restaurants, food court, supermarket, guest rooms, offices for market officials, and modern sanitary facilities. The project will also provide approximately 300 lockable and open market stalls to support commercial activities. It is being funded by the Government of Ghana under the 24-hour economy initiative.

The Omanhene of the Tepa Traditional Area, Prof. Dr. Nana Atwenewa Ampem I, commended the government for the initiative and expressed optimism that the market would boost economic activities, create jobs, and transform Tepa into a major commercial hub in the Ashanti Region. He also urged residents to protect construction materials from theft to ensure the successful completion of the project.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kwasi Adusei, officially inaugurated the Assembly's newly constructed and fully furnished office complex at Tepa in the Ashanti Region on 13th May 2026.

The commissioning ceremony attracted a wide range of dignitaries, including traditional authorities, government officials, heads of departments, Assembly Members, Assembly staff, opinion leaders, and members of the public, all gathered to witness the opening of the modern administrative facility.

In his address, Hon. Kwasi Adusei described the completion of the office complex as a major milestone in the Assembly's efforts to strengthen local governance and enhance administrative efficiency. He noted that the new facility would improve coordination among departments, increase staff productivity, and facilitate the effective implementation of government policies and development programmes within the municipality.

The MCE commended the Government of Ghana for its continued investment in infrastructure aimed at improving local governance and public service delivery. He urged staff of the Assembly to take good care of the facility and remain committed to delivering efficient and quality services to the people of Ahafo Ano North.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Salifu Mahmood Sesay, expressed appreciation for the completion of the office complex, describing it as a significant boost to the Assembly's operations. He assured management's commitment to maintaining the facility to ensure its long-term sustainability.

The Omanhene of the Tepa Traditional Area, Dr. Nana Atwenewa Ampem I, commended the government and the Municipal Assembly for providing the municipality with a befitting administrative office complex. The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), in collaboration with the Government of Ghana, has commissioned renovated school facilities, mechanized boreholes, and livelihood support projects for refugees and host communities in the Ahafo Ano North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The initiative forms part of the ECOWAS Joint Support Programme for Persons of Concern, implemented by Right to Be Free in partnership with the Government of Ghana and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO). The project is aimed at improving access to quality education, safe drinking water, and sustainable livelihood opportunities for vulnerable populations within the municipality.

In the water sector, four mechanized boreholes were constructed at Mabang Kobeda, Akwasiase, Mmeredane, and Abonsuaso, providing residents with reliable access to potable water. This intervention is expected to improve sanitation, reduce waterborne diseases, and enhance the overall well-being of beneficiary communities. In education, Tepa Anglican Basic School and Abonsuaso English Arabic School were renovated to create safe and conducive environments for teaching and learning. The upgraded facilities are expected to boost academic performance and increase school enrolment.

The project also focused on economic empowerment through vocational skills training in gari processing, soap making, and bakery. Beneficiaries received start-up equipment and materials to establish small businesses, generate income, and improve their standard of living.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Right to Be Free, Mr. Eric Boakye Peasah, stated that the initiative was designed to strengthen the resilience of refugees and host communities. He noted that the project demonstrates ECOWAS's commitment to supporting vulnerable populations across the sub-region and urged beneficiaries to maintain the facilities and make productive use of the opportunities provided.

The Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly joined the rest of the nation on 6th March 2026 to commemorate Ghana's 68th Independence Anniversary with a colourful parade and durbar held at the Nana Prempeh Stadium in Tepa.

The event brought together a wide cross-section of the community, including traditional authorities, security agencies, heads of departments, school children, teachers, Assembly staff, political party representatives, and members of the public. All gathered to celebrate the nation's independence under the national theme.

The speaker emphasizes this year's theme, **"Reflect, Review, and Reset."** This involves remembering the values of unity and hard work, honestly assessing national achievements and persistent challenges like unemployment and corruption, and committing to bold action for sustainable development. A highlight of the celebration was the march-past, which featured pupils and students from various basic and senior high schools, alongside contingents from the security services. The participants exhibited remarkable discipline, patriotism, and unity, drawing applause from dignitaries and spectators alike.

Delivering the President's Independence Day address on behalf of the national government, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kwasi Adusei, called on all Ghanaians to uphold the values of patriotism, discipline, unity, and hard work as essential drivers of national development. He particularly urged the youth to remain focused on education, innovation, and skills development, emphasizing that they hold the key to Ghana's future growth and prosperity. Hon. Kwasi Adusei also commended teachers, security personnel, parents, and students for their dedication and commitment to making the celebration a resounding success. A On the occasion of the inauguration of the District HIV/AIDS Committee of the Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly, Mr. Salifu Mahmood Sesay, the Municipal Coordinating Director, delivered a warm welcome address to all attendees.

He began by expressing his gratitude to the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal Director of Health Services, distinguished committee members, invited guests, and all present for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend the event. He noted that their presence demonstrated a shared commitment to the health, well-being, and development of the community and the nation at large. Mr. Sesay emphasized that the gathering was convened to fulfill a crucial national mandate—strengthening the local response to HIV and AIDS. He reminded the audience that the Ghana AIDS Commission is committed to the national goal of ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. While significant progress has been made, he stressed that the fight against the epidemic, particularly the stigma and discrimination associated with it, still requires collective action.

He outlined the critical role of the District HIV/AIDS Committee in achieving the national goal. Key responsibilities include: reducing new infections through awareness campaigns, promoting abstinence and protection; supporting treatment by ensuring that 95% of diagnosed persons in the area are on sustained and effective treatment; and actively working to eliminate discrimination against people living with HIV.

He urged all committee members to be proactive and to bring their knowledge and expertise to bear in public education and engagement efforts. In his concluding remarks, Mr. Sesay thanked the members for accepting the call to service and expressed confidence that with their diverse expertise and dedication, the Committee would achieve great success in making the Municipality a safer and healthier place for all. On Thursday, 29th January 2026, Hon. Kwasi Adusei, Municipal Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly, delivered an address at the Assembly's office in Tepa during the formal presentation of items to Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) in the Municipality.

The event formed part of the Government of Ghana's broader initiative to empower PWDs and reduce poverty nationwide. Hon. Adusei acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development and the Municipal Disability Fund Management Committee (MDFMC) in ensuring the successful delivery of support to beneficiaries. He commended the Government of Ghana, under the leadership of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, for consistently releasing funds to support PWDs and the less privileged, thereby protecting their lives and livelihoods.

A total of Seventy Thousand, Six Hundred and Fifty-Eight Ghana Cedis (GH₵70,658.00) worth of items was presented to beneficiaries. These included refrigerators, poly tanks, industrial sewing machines, wheelchairs, among others. Additionally, some beneficiaries received support in the form of school fee payments and educational materials. Hon. Adusei emphasized the Government's focus on creating employment opportunities in both the formal and informal sectors. He, therefore, urged beneficiaries not to sell the items but to put them to productive use for their own benefit, their families, and the broader community.

He concluded by expressing profound appreciation to the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, the MDFMC, and staff of the Assembly for their dedication in providing essential social and economic services to the people. He encouraged them to continue their efforts toward the growth and development of the Ahafo Ano North Municipality. The address ended with a prayer for God's blessings on all present and the nation.
